Established at UNC Charlotte in 1975, the Office of International Programs strives to strengthen international education at the University as well as in the Charlotte community. On campus, it seeks to make international understanding and global awareness a fundamental part of the curriculum and an integral part of campus programming. Office of Intercultural and Educational Experiences
The Office of Intercultural and Educational Experiences provides a broad range of innovative training programs, language immersion programs, faculty-led programs and customized short-courses in Charlotte, USA. Our programs are uniquely designed for undergraduate and graduate university students, university faculty, experienced professionals, language learners and more. We utilize the expertise and abundant resources at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and the surrounding community to allow our participants to achieve success in our global society. Our custom programs emphasize development and education through experience and are individually designed to meet the needs of the program participants. International Instructor Language Support Program & International Teaching Assistants
Fall and Spring terms, the International Instructor Language Support Program (IILSP) provides mandatory English language assessment for incoming International Teaching Assistants (ITAs). IILSP also provides an ITA Communications Course Fall and Spring terms to help ITAs prepare for teaching duties. In addition, IILSP conducts required English language assessment for UNC Charlotte faculty candidates who are non-native speakers of English. IILSP can offer custom workshops for departments. Volunteers (Conversation Partners)
The English Conversation Partners Program aims to assist ELTI students with their English listening, speaking and communication skills through weekly practices and interactions with English Conversation Partners. Conversation Partners also engage with ELTI students through social and cultural events, such as Ladies’ Night and ELTI Talks. We are always seeking UNC Charlotte student volunteers who are willing to commit as Conversation Partners for an entire term.
